Collection: Guitars

Guitar Freaks is a boutique electric guitar shop in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, 25 km south of Brussels, run by the team behind Bass Freaks. We do not try to carry everything. We carry six guitar brands we would happily keep for ourselves, we plug in every instrument before it ships, and we photograph all of them in house with no colour grading and no editing.

Shipping worldwide from Belgium, with more than 3,500 instruments sent to players in over 50 countries since 2016. And no, we are not the Konami arcade game.

The guitar brands we carry

Brand Built in What it is
Suhr guitars Lake Elsinore, California The benchmark for modern builds of classic outlines. Every guitar gets a PLEK fret dress before it leaves the building. Classic S, Classic T, Classic JM, Modern and the signature line.
Mayones guitars Gdansk, Poland Handbuilt since 1982 by about forty people in one workshop. Necks cure for months before shaping. Regius, Duvell, Aquila, Hydra, and multiscale on request.
Duesenberg guitars Hannover, Germany Art Deco semi-hollows with their own vibrato and their own pickups. The Starplayer TV has looked like nothing else on a stage since 1995.
Chapman Guitars Designed in the UK Specs that normally cost twice as much, aimed at people who play rather than collect. Scout, Law Maker, Ghost Fret and the signature models.
Infinia guitars Terneuzen, Netherlands Founded 2023, carrying the retired Padalka shapes under licence. We are one of only four Infinia dealers in Europe. Ceres, Neptune and the Dingwall-designed Titan.
Legator guitars Designed in Sun Valley, California Extended range without the boutique price. 6 to 9 strings, multiscale, stainless frets and Fishman electronics. Ninja, Ghost and Revenant.

If you do not know where to start, most people start with a Suhr Classic S or a Duesenberg Starplayer TV, because those two cover most of what a guitar is asked to do. If you play heavy, start with a Mayones Regius. And if the amp is the problem rather than the guitar, the Neural DSP Quad Cortex is on the pedals side of the shop.

Choosing a guitar at Guitar Freaks

Which brand should I be looking at?

Depends on the job. Vintage voicing built to a modern standard: Suhr or Duesenberg. High gain, low tunings, extended range: Mayones, Legator or Infinia. Serious spec on a sensible budget: Chapman. That is the honest three-line version, and if you tell us what you actually play we will narrow it down further and tell you when the answer is none of the above.

Do you carry multiscale guitars?

Yes, across three brands. Mayones does multiscale as VF on the Duvell and the Hydra, Legator builds most of its range fanned with the F code, and the Infinia Titan is multiscale by design, drawn for Infinia by Sheldon Dingwall. If you tune an 8 string to F sharp you want one. If you play a 6 in standard, you do not.

Do you carry headless guitars?

Also yes. The Mayones Hydra, the Infinia Neptune, and the Legator Ghost and Revenant. On 8 and 9 string the headless option is not a style choice, it is a weight and balance fix.

What is the affordable end of the shop?

Chapman and Legator. Neither is a compromise brand, they are just brands that spend the money on the spec sheet rather than on the address. Stainless frets, real pickups and honest hardware turn up at both, well below where the European builders start.

Can I order a custom guitar?

Yes, with Suhr through their configurator, with Mayones through their custom shop, and with Infinia, where everything is built to order anyway at around six months. We place the order as your dealer and we handle the European end of it. We will not invent a lead time for you, because the builders do not publish one and guessing helps nobody.

Can I play one before buying?

Yes. The showroom in Louvain-la-Neuve is appointment only, Monday to Saturday, and the appointment is the point rather than a formality: nobody else in the room, no queue, enough time to make a real decision. Coffee is hot, beer is cold.

Do you ship outside the EU?

We ship worldwide. Import duties are the buyer's responsibility, getting the instrument to you intact is ours. Packing is done by people who play, which is not a small detail when a guitar goes in a box.

Do you sell basses?

Not here. That is Bass Freaks, our sister shop, same team and same showroom, and it has been doing it since 2016. Different fretboard, same standards.
